Organising Authority
The racing arrangements for the Fife Regatta will be organised by the Clyde Yacht Clubs Association, working to the requirements of the Fife Regatta Committee. The races will be as set out in the Event Brochure published by the Fife Regatta Committee, with details to be provided in the Sailing Instructions which will be available by 15 May 2003. These will be posted to entrants, and will be available from the CYCA website www.cyca-online.org.uk and from Largs Yacht Haven prior to the first race.

Rules and Eligibility
The racing will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing 2001-2004 and by the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) proscriptions to these rules. Yachts will be under the control of a member of a club affiliated to the RYA or to another equivalent National Authority.

Classes
Yachts competing in the races must be Fife-designed or built, and will be split into two classes which will be defined in the Sailing Instructions and dependent on entries received by 31st March 2003.

Racing
The first start for the first race will be at 11.00 on 21st June, off Largs. The Low Points Scoring system defined in RRS Appendix A will be used. Details of series scoring and discards will be included in the Sailing Instructions. Prizes will be as determined seperately by the Fife Regatta Committee.

Entries, Insurance and Safety
Entries should be made on the form attached, which should be signed by the owner or his/her representative and returned with the appropriate fee. Entries must be received by 31st March 2003. No late entries will be accepted. By signing this form the owner(s) confirms the following:

  • That the boat is seaworthy and that the crew is competent to sail her.

  • That the boat will not be put to sea if the foregoing conditions cannot be met in relation to the location and the actual and forecast weather conditions.

  • That none of the following parties, namely Fife Regatta 2003 Ltd., the Clyde Yacht Clubs Association or any person employed by or acting on behalf of those bodies or assisting with running the racing has made any representation that the boat is seaworthy, competently crewed or suitable for the Fife Regatta and none of those parties will have any responsibility for any loss, damage, death or personal injury however it may have occurred, as a result of the boat taking part in the racing.

  • That the boat is covered by adequate insurance including cover for third party claims which will be in force without restriction while the boat is taking part in the event including the racing.

Entry Fees for Racing and Social Programme
To participate in the racing an entry fee of £100 should be paid in respect of the yacht. For each owner, crew member and any member of the shore team associated with the yacht to gain entry to the official events of the Social Programme a fee of £50 should be paid. On arrival at the Regatta those individuals will be asked to register and will be supplied with non-transferable entry badges, which will be required for entry to all official events. Fife Regatta 2003 Limited will organise official events including the opening and closing parties at its discretion depending on the numbers attending, the location and the weather but neither it nor any person acting on its behalf will have any liability if any event is cancelled or does not take place for any reason and no refunds will be given. Further, Fife Regatta 2003 Limited and those acting on its behalf will have no liability in respect of any contracts or arrangements made by owners or their crew and friends with third parties such as local suppliers of goods accommodation and services, whose details may be included in the Information Pack.
