The second day of the Richard Mille Fife Regatta 2026 was postponed for four hours as a southerly front moved through, bringing winds of up to 27knots in the start area.
As the clouds and rain started to lift and the breeze eased, the fleet slipped lines and headed afloat with slight trepidation.

A downwind start for class one had a variety of sail choices. Kismet hoisted to leeward of Kentra as they crossed the line and headed north up the Clyde. Others were more prudent and eased into the conditions downwind with white sails only as the rolled towards Skelmorlie Bank. Scottish Weather can be inclement at times, and today was one of those fine, damp days. William Fife would probably have been proud of his designs, weathering the conditions over 100 years later as the fleets flew downwind under a dark sky.
The smaller boats were equally hardy as they rounded the Cumbrae and had a broad reach straight across to Bute in the rolling swell. A few glimmers of light peeked through before a final deluge cleared, leaving clearer and calmer conditions to welcome them to Rothesay.

Coila led the Conway Fife One Designs from the start, having hoisted the kite first and holding it for the duration of the course. The crews seemed to enjoy the exhilarating conditions, perhaps down to the seaworthiness of their craft, or the quality of their oilskins. Either way, all the boats are safely tied up with plenty of stories to share of a punchy day on the Clyde.

The 8 metres came out on top of Class one with Saskia leading Falcon over a bumpy beat back up the Clyde. Kismet came in third, hoisting a kite in a dying breeze as they entered the bay.
